Many thanks to CG IT, Jack Howe, Bizzo, Hal 9000, jdclyde, and The Scummy One for sending in e-mails or voice messages for this week's show, including answers to GG's (our own gadgetgirl) Question of the Week: "What are your hobbies outside of computers?" and Hal 9000's Question of the Week: "What's your favorite place to be? - or - Where's your favorite place for a vacation?"

Also, special thanks to dieselsweeties.com for cool t-shirts to wear on the show!

Do you really want me to be NICE? Firstly I don't think that is possible and no I wasn't involved in That Thread other than posting something to the effect that if you don't want to look at something don't there are plenty of other Technical Things that are available here to play with. I think I also added something about answering questions as well. Then I went to bed for the year and when I woke up everything had disappeared. :0 But as I can not be NICE if this helps I will not be around much for a few Days/Weeks depending on how well a relative goes after surgery. Well he had the surgery Thursday and depending on the Pathology Results things may not be too great after that. Does that help any? :p But I know that the Smegy One will be looking in at the end of the day to answer questions to unwind after the day so maybe that's no help at all. :^0 Col

Why no credit for turning in the screen name of the week? ;)

Does anyone really want to see a 'Nice' Scummy??? Ok, Ok, I get the point, however some of the posts that were edited, had no reason to be. And it wasnt just that one thread, there have been several yanked recently, and several other posts edited. Policing the content is known, however changing the posting 'rules' without warning, and without further comment is what got some of us upset. Telling us how we should have responded and how we should have interpreted the post is what set me off on that thread (and Q's idiotic insults on people that did not insult him)! It should also be noted that Q insulted many people, and then continued to insult people more individually throughout. That is not the kind of posting a lurker would do and not expect flames. It is not too often that a disagreement turns into a flame war. Yeah, it made me sad and disappointed as well -- at the responses from moderators!

at 6:26.... :D So, what did the video look like of the shirt W/greenscreen? Look like Sonja had an Aliens moment? Post it! ;\ As for new members, they RARELY get treated overly rough, other than the seagull hack requesters. We are a friendly bunch, just look'en for luv! B-) In the case this week, it was hardly a new member that was the center of the issues.... Now THAT is an idea. When a post is edited, a wav file should be embedded to go BEEEEEEEP! :^0

Thanks for the free entertainment yet again. (and not spanking anyone) How long does it take you guys to produce a 8-10min video like this?

Nice shots there, Scummy. Hummers spook so easily 'round here that I have yet to get a good shot. Cool shots on those sulphur crested cockatoos (?). Quiet - yes! Old video games - Space Firebird and Galaga. Favs. Another good TROLOV. I really do look forward to these, thanks for them. I'll try to be nice, really I will. ;)

But in the case of Rumple of the Bailey Hilda was nice compared to my SWMBO who tells me what to do when to do it and how to do it. :( I can not even ask her to go and pickup something for me I once put her on a plane to Sydney for a $8.00 part that was needed the following day a Saturday and she returned with a $800.00 excess Baggage bill and $35,000.00 worth of Ducati Spares which she insisted I needed to pay for now. She then pushed a car of jack stands because I wasn't fixing it fast enough for her liking and then when the Meat Wagon came to take me away she insisted that I finish off before they could take me to the Meat Works where I spent 2 weeks flat on my back. :D Looks as if I'm going to have to take up Bank Robbery to keep her in the way she has become accustomed to want. ;) Col

Just so you know... no one overlooked Q's participation in all of this. The moderators (Tammy and myself) wanted everyone to simma down. I really thought that message was conveyed in our responses, so I'm at a loss here. If you were as upset with our responses as I was with the mayhem, I sincerely apologize. How could we have handled it differently, Scott?

First off... Headroom comment... I realized during the editing stage that I said, "...she (Tammy) removed the thread from the site completely, but not after a lot of really cr@ppy things were said by a lot of people." See the problem? She did remove it after all the nasty comments, so I had to edit out "but not" - and unfortunately, I couldn't do anything about my body position. (sigh) I need an editor! ;-) And about posting the shirt with green on greenscreen... I was going to and then decided to cover it at the last minute. Something about me lifting my shirt and showing my ... uhm ... shirt underneath just didn't seem right. It was a proportional issue. Let's leave it at that.

but didnt think of Max -- lol More importantly, what did it look like wet??? Hmmm, adding a beep might be fun, but think of the extra load times :0 Just like my recent emoticon phase.

To be honest, I spend more time on TROLOV than I "should" - meaning that I have to work on it partially off hours - because it's something that I not only enjoy, but I think it's important to highlight the TR community. I didn't really answer your question though, did I, Steve? :) Script writing, video recording, and editing combined takes about 9 to 10 hours.

if they are around you often enough. after several years of spending lots of time outside, and being around them, they would come by and check out what I was doing at different times (checking out how I was changing their food repository). This included watching me BBQ, and repot plants. They would often come within 2-3 feet of me and hover. As for Pets -- lol I dont keep pets! Why impose an animal to depend on me? Instead, I create an environment for certain types of animals, to come by, play, feed, and do whatever without containment.

I'm still suing as I was discriminated against. I do actually occasionally need to sleep. Like 3 hours per month is almost enough but I really do need that sleep. :0 Actually from what was sent to me I thought it was fairly mild considering some of the exchanges that I have been involved in previously. :D See this is me being NICE I'll settle for only a few mill. :^0 OH because I'm Nice I promise to keep SWMBO son off this computer after all opening Skype and sending you some Heavy Breathing without knowing what he did couldn't be anything to do with me. Now I wonder how I can get rid of my daughter. ?:| Please take note here this is what happens with kids most people think that they start out all cute and lovely but when they come home after turning 34 they are as ugly and nasty as when they where first born. Personally I always thought that they started out Bad and only got worse with age. ;) Col ]:)

My only problem with the way it was handled was unless I missed something, Q was immune to the wrath (used loosely of course) of Tammy. It seemed as though more time was spent in defense of Q than in attempting to defuse the situation. That was my perception of the whole thing. By starting a thread like that he had to expect a reaction, he may not have expected the reaction he got but he had to expect it none the less. Just my 2 cents FWIW. B-)

if there are changes in what is acceptable and what isn't, it would be nice to know before hand, and consistently. The policing came off as heavy handed and arbitrary, again.

I've had them come to feeders less than two feet from my head while I'm reading on the deck. Nuthatches are even better / worse. I had one criticize my performance from the top of the pole as I refilled a safflower feeder eight inches away.

tcavadias

..comment was the best... should have gotten a shot of it... Which basically stated something like - "so you're a dog who needs someone else to lick them" - Tammy who had her poor doggie neutered :-)

I didn't even know that he had it on till I got that message. :( Seems that I have to lock down my own computer while I'm not at home as well. Just too much work there for no return. Or maybe I should add some more contacts to the Skype instead of just TR OL. :^0 Then others can get his heavy breathing and I didn't even think that the Mic was turned on or even that good. Part of the reason why I haven't used it as it's a poor Mic. Maybe I'll have to reassess the situation. ;) OK as it was over 30 Seconds I don't suppose it qualifies me for the TR Harley right? ;) Col

it wasn't my intent. However, it was mentioned removing certain threads within "that thread" - this wouldn't have helped much as by the time you trimmed it down - there really wouldn't had been anything left to salvage. As touchy as the topic was - it could have made for an interesting discussion. Had it been presented in a different light. For example - The question was asked - "Are others annoyed with the bumpings"? Now let's take Tigger's thread out of this equation and just assume - any bumpings of any topic. (i.e. Fridays Yuk's, Music, Garden, Linux vs Windows, what ever your passion might be) In this light - does any type of bumpings annoy folks? For those who don't mind, does that include all types of topics or just certain ones? And if it doesn't annoy you, but you know it does others - is there a compromise? and what would that compromise be? The bumpings don't bother me as I've been a part of them bumpings - but I did have to ask myself - what if it wasn't something I didn't support or it was a topic I didn't care much about? Would I feel differently? And if I would feel differently - what can I do to ensure that I'm not pushing my own interests, passions and things I support onto others who might feel differently? I hope that makes sense, as sometimes what is written doesn't come out as clear as I would like and is misunderstood. -Tammy :-)

Time to check my moderator manual here - you know, the one Beth left behind. :) Seriously, I agree with you about identifying the rules and then being consistent. I'm not trying to put anyone off by not chiming in with "Here's how it is, forks..." I just want to be very certain before I do.
