TR Member participation

Thanks to Jason, The Scummy One, shasca, BFilmFan, Hal 9000, Bizzo, KSoniat, and fredeppy for participating in this episode of TROLOV. Also thanks to abs54 for the great e-mail. These folks are eligible for some free swag!

Last week's Question of the Week by jdclyde was: "When you go on vacation, do you take technology with you?”

Hal 9000: "I haven't had a holiday in as long as I can remember, but when I take off for a couple of days, I most certainly do take technology with me, because I rely on it to get me where I need to be, when I need to be there, and much more importantly, to get me home again."

NickNielsen's Questions of the Week was, "If you aren’t going to be in Louisville for the Event, what are your plans for that weekend?”

Bizzo, "My plans for the week involve a tent, copious amounts of beer, and a lot of live music. Yes, I'll be at Glastonbury again for the festival. The weather forecast is good, so it'll be shorts instead of wellies, I hope!”

KSoniat was in charge of a register at Park Seed's large annual event called "Flower Day," where they gave garden tours, had master gardeners on site, and sold plants / flowers / bulbs, etc.

Jacky Howe's Questions of the Week was, “When will My Workspace stop misbehaving? Any predictions?”

Bizzo had the best "e-mailed" reply: "Never. It's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature!”

A new Question of the Week was sent in by KSoniat, but it’s directed just to the TR members who attended the Community Event in Louisville, Kentucky. She wants to know, of all the board games that were mentioned beforehand: "What did you play? Who played? And who won?" For the TR members who were at the gathering, please send your answers to all of these questions to trol at techrepublic.com. Voice messages, e-mails, and photos = swag If you'd like to earn some free TR swag, send in an e-mail with an answer to the Question of the Week, a brand new Question of the Week, comments, and/or photos to trol at techrepublic.com. You can also leave a voice message -- our toll free number is (866) 414-CNET (2638) and our Skype ID is tr.out.loud.

We have lots and lots of swag. If you'd like a complete listing, shoot me an e-mail, and I'll send a reply.

I missed my TROL fix. It was just added punishment for not being there in Louisville. I won't miss it next year!

Thanks Sonja, Thanks Tammy, Thanks TR for a great Gathering and for today's Trolov. Just downloaded a ton of pix from The Gathering and they are just wonderful, nice to relive the Gathering thru pictures. And I will forever kick myself for not breaking out my camera as well.

The pictures you took will stand as a wonderful testament to the fun we all had, the things that you could not take pictures of were the memories, and we will hold them forever.

Mine spent the entire weekend in its accustomed location in my laptop bag. To be honest, I got so involved in everything, I forgot I had it with me.

Michael Jay

At the time it seemed like we were there for days and days, we just kept doing stuff. Think I would have missed out on some things had I been playing cameraman.

Shellbot

we'll give it a go :) speaking of junk food..I've one bag of Cheetos left that I'm considering eating.. Such a dilema..eat em now or save em for when i REALLY want em.. arrgggg

NickNielsen

We'll head on out to Skyline for dinner one night. There are three or four in Louisville. Good old American "homestyle" junk food! :D

Shellbot
Shellbot

but dunno..i think i prefer homemade.. but if i ever get the chance, i'll try that stuff i guess.. heck, i'll try anything once.. :0

if you like that sort of thing. The guy from Cincinnati is no longer talking to me. I'd been in Cincinnati the weekend before, and all I had to say was, guess where I ate yesterday. You should have seen the pain on his face when he said "Again?" I shouldn't gloat, but life would be so much less fun if I stopped.

I thought that everything was covered in yellow wool. I notice that it's called "shredded cheddar" and they put it on everything. Now, I could go into an Oz-style Anti-American-cheese rant here but I will simply say "GAH!" and leave it at that. :)

KFC is off the menu. We don't go to BJ's all that often, either, but it's definitely better than the local alternatives.

The broccoli goes well with the carrots and cauliflower... I grew up knowing that dish (no matter the sauce) as pasta primavera.

jdclyde
jdclyde

how much cheese skyline puts on top of the chili that is on top of the pasta..... :D And yes, it is definitely a "at home" type of thing. I also put broccoli in my spaghetti.

CharlieSpencer
CharlieSpencer

You're as bad as those idjits in Cincinnati that pour it over spaghetti. I value your Yankee @ss; please don't try that in Texas.

CharlieSpencer

About 2.5 - 3 hours southeast of L'ville, is the home of the first KFC. I pass through it every time I head up there to see family. http://www.corbinkentucky.us/sanderscafe.htm As far as I can tell, the KFC isn't any good anywhere. I'd rather have sausages in a bun or rat on a stick.

Shellbot
Shellbot

I've no clue what that is... fast food i presume?

jdclyde
jdclyde

I have never had it in K. :0 We DID make a point of stopping at Skyline on the way home for lunch. mmmmmmm.

Shellbot

time passed very slowly..yet it was over in a flash?? because of almost no sleep, my days just merged into 1, so it seemed to go on forever..yet all of a sudden it was sunday morning..and i thought "how the heck did that happen so fast?" :( So many thing i wanted to say and do, but just didn't get the chance...I just have to wait for next year. Plus I never asked anyone..is the Kentucky Fried Chicken nice in Kentucky??

gadgetgirl

you could have taken the Flip - only used it once, as I was using the other camera. Hey, I may be good, and be able to use both hands at once, but two cameras at once, and handle sunglasses/bag/hat/people (!) just wasn't on. (light smack) WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SOMETHING?! arrrrgggh! Men! :p GG

Shellbot
Shellbot

OMG..a couple of your pics are me are hideous!!!!! You caught me mid laugh or whatever..teeth hanging out all over the place...aagggghhhhhhhhh Plus the high res...makes me think no matter how frikkin hot it is next year, i just might have to wear a wee bit of makeup... *sigh* a guess i can't be perfect in every pic can i.. hahahhaa! there's one ah...very interesting one in there..I know who that is.. :)

Shellbot
Shellbot

i didn't upload about 8 or so of the ones i took. a couple were shaky and blurred.. and there was a couple that weren't terribly flattering for the person, so I left em out. Figured I'd be nice.. :)

jdclyde
jdclyde

how much "sorting" would be going on before pics got uploaded..... :0 Some of the others, maybe a bit of photoshopping? :D

Michael Jay
Michael Jay

easy, the camera has a point and click setting. But I like to fiddle with it and it would have been too much with all the action, it seemed we did not sit still for very long at a time at all. The pictures in my head and the ones on the site will satisfy me always, and the memories that just cannot be photographed make me smile.

It's that high in England? I mean it's high in Atlanta in the spring, but not so high the dogwood trees actually have lil' dogs fallin' out of the flowers...

I just can't bring myself to do it.... I'll remind ye to bring it next year...
