ESX has been the flagship virtualization platform of choice over the years but Microsoft is battling them intensely to capture this market as they captured the Internet Explorer market back in the Netscape days. VMware has been feeling the pressure and decides to create a 32 mb hypervisor called ESX3i and give it away for free. Microsoft in turn fires back with a free hypervisor of there own.
