Video: iPhone OS 3.0 introduces Apple Push Notification Service

Instant messaging and other real-time alerts will soon be available on your iPhone. Apple iPhone software guru Scott Forstall demonstrates.

On March 17, Apple gave a preview of what we can expect from the iPhone OS 3.0 Software. Sister site, CNET.com covered the event and took videos of several stand-out features. In this video, Scott Forstall, Apple’s senior vice president of iPhone software, demonstrates how developers can integrate the Apple Push Notification Service into their applications. Forstall uses an IM application as an example and explains how the service is highly scalable and works across all the mobile networks that currently offer iPhones.
