How do I change the working directory or default location of my virtual machines in VMware Workstation?

Performance tuning and optimizing are very important if you want to keep your virtual machines running at their peak capacity. Here is a quick tip to keep your virtual machines running at peak performance.
The working directory is the default location where all your virtual machines are installed. If you do not change this location, it defaults to the My DocumentsMy Virtual Machines folder of the profile you used to install VMware Workstation. For maximum performance, take advantage of a second hard drive on your host system. By having two drives, you can increase performance by keeping VMware Workstation from accessing data on the same physical disk. By keeping the host operating system on one disk and all virtual machines on another disk, disk-intensive applications will not compete with each other. Figure A shows how you can change the default location.
