Only half of you have downloaded Windows 8

Takeaway: In a recent poll I asked how many TechRepublic members had downloaded Windows 8 Developers Preview. There weren’t as many downloads as I would have guessed.

On September 23, 2011, I asked a simple poll question:

Have you downloaded and tried Windows 8 Developer Preview?

Being a person who gets paid to try every new Windows thing that comes out, I guess I have a skewed view of things — I thought an overwhelming majority of TechRepublic readers would have downloaded and tried Windows 8. I mean, I seem to be getting a ton of opinions as if most of you had downloaded it.

So why have you not downloaded the Windows 8 preview version? Are you waiting for the beta version?

Waiting

I'm curious as to what Windows 8 will bring, but not curious enough to waste time on a rough, still evolving, product.

Other factors:

* I have no touch-screen devices.
* My eye-hand-mouse coordination is quite good.
* Having advanced beyond grade school, I do not need stacks of colored blocks on my desk.

I hate touching my screen. Have to clean it way to often. It's also barbaric and unprecise. I guess that if i changed from 98SE to XP in 2002, and have just shifted one of my 4 machines to Win 7 last week, I can wait till 2017-2020 to shift to touch (if ever). Been running Linux on one of them for 2 years now...

is crap they have not told the true again windows 8 all it does is spy on you it take your rights a way from you and they do not want you to know this at all read the lic's it give microsoft all that you put on the computer it will not belive to you any more they will own it
and you will not read and you will give them your family Pictures and more and you will lose it and microsoft know this and they do not want you to know this and they keep saying hacker in the usa but it is in china and they will not tell you this to do not trust microsoft at all

Once logged in, adding contacts is simple. Just mouse over any member's photo or click any member's name then click the "Follow" button. You can easily manage your contacts within your account contacts page.
