Windows and Office

Tip: Windows Vista has Quick Launch Shortcuts

Does your Laptop or Desktop have a Windows Key? If so, Windows Vista lets you use the first ten items that you drag into your quick launch area as shortcuts. For example, I have 20 items in my quick launch, I can move around my favorite ten and I can use the Windows Key + the appropriate number from 0 – 9 (10 items).

For example, I have the following 5 program in my Quick Launch area:

  • Show Desktop
  • Switch between windows
  • Internet Explorer
  • Beyond Compare 2
  • Lotus Notes

The Quick Launch shortcut for Show Desktop is the Windows Key + 1, Switch between windows is Windows Key + 2, Internet Explorer is the Windows Key + 3, etc.

Will you take advantage of the Quick Launch shortcuts in Windows Vista?

This is a real timesaver for me as I have memorized where my most accessible programs are and use this extensively.
