Windows Home Server 2011 RC is ready

Takeaway: On February 3, 2011, Microsoft announced that Windows Home Server 2011 Release Candidate is available for download.

An evaluation copy of Windows Home Server 2011 Release Candidate is now available for download from Microsoft. You will have to agree to participate in the Windows Home Server Connect program to get your copy, but since this is an evaluation version of the product, that is probably a good thing.

According to the press release, there are several new features in the 2001RC, including a new Move Folder Wizard, which makes it easy for you to move data from one drive to another.

Who cares?

Who cares if Drive Extender is gone? Next to the idiot proof backup solution, that's the main reason it was worth paying for.

Home Server

I have been using HP Home Server for years with few problems. It works well as a file server, auto backups, and media server. The items I would like to see improved are: better way to backup the server files, knowing what physical drives the data is on, and a way to log in when the server hangs on an installation.

I just odered Windows Home Server 2011 , I also ordered the book :Microsoft Windows Home Server 2011 Unleashed from Amazon ,is there any other books to help me ,because I multiboot this computer ,Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Ultimate ,Windows 7 Ultimate

Not Sold yet!

I've been using WHSv1 for nearly a year now. I really like the drive extender functionality and consider it a major negative having it removed from 'Vail'. But I can't say that it's my sole issue with WHS. WHS has just never lived up to it's potential - Like MediaCenter, M$ could have done so much more with this product and didn't. With that said - I'll probably just keep my WHSv1 running a little longer.

Once logged in, adding contacts is simple. Just mouse over any member's photo or click any member's name then click the "Follow" button. You can easily manage your contacts within your account contacts page.
