Judging by the popularity of the TechRepublic Photo Galleries we have published before on the subject, members like to personalize their OS desktops with interesting wallpaper. The slide show feature of Microsoft Windows 7 has inspired many users to begin collecting photos, often with a particular theme in mind. One of my preferred themes is the scenic view, especially landscape scenes.
There are thousands of public domain images available from the U.S. National Park Service that make great scenic view desktop wallpaper. The images are available in high-resolutions and that means they can be adjusted to fit your preferred screen resolution. I have chosen over 50 images from the archives for this TechRepublic Photo Gallery, but there are hundreds more available from the NPS Digital Image Index. (Note: This index page apparently could not take the initial traffic surge and may not be working. With luck, this is a temporary problem.)
Scroll through the images in "Public Domain Windows Desktop Wallpaper from US National Parks" and choose the ones you like best.
The only drawback to viewing these wonderful images is that now I have a bit of the travel bug.
