Download a Windows Vista VHD today!

Microsoft has provided a VHD to test Windows Vista for 30 days. This is a great way to see the features of Windows Vista without having to upgrade your current operating system.

The VHD format is supported by VirtualPC and Virtual Server which are free to download. After downloading the proper virtualization platform, the VHD requires 10 GB or disk space and about 1GB of memory. You must also have Windows Vista, Windows XP, and or Windows Server 2003 as your host operating system.

Let me see. My current system, one year old, has a dual core 2.6 Mhz CPU, 768 Meg RAM, and an onboard video "card". It runs XP, Kubuntu and everything else I need, including video editors using an Avermedia capture card. But the Vista advisor says I need to add more RAM and a better video card in order to fully benefit from the new OS. For this I get eye candy on a desktop I seldom look at (since I spend my time inside the applications) and a new OS that doesn't have drivers to support the peripherals I now have. Tell me again why I should want to spend more to do less with Vista?
