If you want it permanently, click Tools, Menu Bar.

This is nice enough information but this post would be a lot more helpful if it showed how to permanently show menus, not just temporarily.

Show Hidden Files & Folders/Unhide File Extensions For some reason Microsoft chooses to hide the part of the filename that determines what program(s) can handle that file. By default most files like .PDF, .DOC, .WAV, .MP3 and every other extension that has a default association to a program will have the extension hidden. You won't see .XLS if you have Microsoft Excel installed or .MP3 if you have Winamp installed & so on. Also, by default, Microsoft chooses to hide folders that contain data you need to find & backup. This document will help you fix all that. 1) Single left-click on the Start button. go to control panel click on Classic View to come onto the screen below. Click On Folder Options, Folder Options. Click on the View Tab Select the radio button Show hidden files & folders Click on Apply & Ok. Swapnil?.

Click Organize, Layout, Menu Bar. Once you can see the Tools menu, click Folder Options, View, Apply to Folders. This will give you the Menu Bar in all similar type folders. Vista tries to differentiate between program folders, document folders, picture folders, etc., so you may have to do each type of folder. I don't remember if I did each one or if it worked for all types at once.
