How did your peers answer this question: Is your company hiring or planning to hire IT personnel?

On March 26, with inspiration provided by TechRepublic 2010 IT skills and salary report, I asked members and readers of the TechRepublic Microsoft Windows Blog this question:

Is your company hiring or planning to hire IT personnel?

Somewhat naively I anticipated that we would see results that indicated an increase in available jobs and active hiring plans to fill them. I was completely wrong. It looks like economic recovery from the recession is going to take more time than I had hoped. Do you see any indication that IT professional hiring will accelerate?

I don't think any conclusions can be drawn about the state of the economy or IT hiring from 410 anonymous internet votes

I think we can draw some conclusions, but even if we can't, we can draw out more information with a discussion. For example, why don't you tell us what your company is doing? Are you hiring? Is there economic recovery in Portland. Why not participate constructively?

In the Eastern PA area (near philly) there are mad hiring jobs for IT Pro's. Seriously, if you don't mind relocating to the city of brotherly love (pfff) you can easliy find IT jobs here. Eastern PA is ripe for a good IT explosion, many companies here are old dutchie areas still tiddling with as400's etc. and are upgrading like made.
