CIO Profile
Chris Chant
CIO & Director of London 2012 Integration and Assurance | Government Olympic Executive
Chris Chant's CIO role, together with his position as director of London 2012 Integration and Assurance, means he is responsible for overseeing the delivery of IT capabilities for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
As well as making sure the IT systems needed to run the games and report the results are in place, Chant is also responsible for overseeing the implementation of the technology that underpins the security systems.
Before joining the Government Olympic Executive, Chant served as CIO at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, where he led a major IT service improvement programme with an outsourcing partner.
Chant has a track record of successfully delivering complex business and technology change in the public sector.
As an operational manager in the then Inland Revenue he led delivery of what is now HMRC's online systems for Self Assessment, PAYE and Corporation Tax, and was responsible for turning around the operational performance of one of the largest revenue offices.
Chant has also worked for the UK government CIO as delivery director at the Cabinet Office. This role included being programme director for a range of large and complex multi-agency IT services, including the Government Gateway - which supports authentication and secure transactions for more than seven million UK citizens and businesses.
