Philippe Mazas
Group CIO | Smith & Nephew
Philippe Mazas looks after the IT for $4.3bn global medical technology firm Smith & Nephew.
Mazas took up the role of group CIO in May this year, putting him in charge of the company's computing technology in the more than 90 countries in which it operates.
Smith & Nephew offers services related to orthopaedic reconstruction, advanced wound management, sports medicine and trauma, and has almost 11,000 employees worldwide.
Before joining Smith & Nephew, Mazas was group CIO at Beazley Group, a global, specialist insurance business. Prior to joining Beazley, Mazas was information officer in charge of sales and marketing systems and services for General Motors Europe, based in the UK. Previously he was regional CIO for Renault in South America, based in Curitiba, Brazil.
Mazas is married with four children and speaks four languages. Educated in France, he has an engineering degree from École Centrale Paris and a PhD in technology from Université Paris VI.
