CIO Profile
Stephen Potter
CIO | World-Check
Stephen Potter joined global risk intelligence firm World-Check as CIO in 2010 with a brief to transform the IT function during a period of rapid growth at the organisation.
To achieve his brief, Potter is continuing a move of back-office functions to the cloud and also driving production systems to a utility hosting model. Potter believes this transformation will deliver the required performance and availability at a reduced cost.
Before joining World-Check, Potter was senior IT director at the global business information provider IHS, where he managed IT including mergers and acquisitions in the EMEA and APAC regions. He also ran the global product development team for the Insight business division.
Before IHS, Potter worked at news agency Reuters in a variety of IT leadership roles in the UK, Middle East and the Americas. His time at Reuters culminated in leading IT for the Reuters global news and financial data production operation.
As his career suggests, Potter is a keen traveller and has an ambition to live and work in Asia. In the UK, he keeps fit through hiking and playing squash.
