The use and importance of e-mail and electronic documents in day-to-day communications between organizations continues to grow. While businesses used to be concerned solely with the retention and disposal of paper records, the management of e-mail and other electronic communication is quickly supplanting those paper documents.
While many organizations rely on software that automatically deletes and destroys e-mail after a certain time, far more businesses count on their employees to manually remove e-mail and other old documents from individual computers and company networks.
This policy defines requirements for retaining electronic documents available to all within the organization.
Use this policy as-is or customize it to meet your needs.
