Exploit these useful IP Accounting features in Cisco IOS
Source: Cisco Press
IP Accounting is a very useful accounting feature in Cisco IOS, but it is not as well-known as other features, such as NetFlow. However, compared to NetFlow, IP Accounting offers some advantages that make it an interesting feature to investigate. For instance, easy results retrieval via a MIB and limited resource consumption. Furthermore, access-list accounting currently cannot be solved with the NetFlow implementation. In this sample chapter from Network Management: Accounting and Performance Strategies, study the various IP Accounting features in Cisco IOS, learn to distinguish between different IP Accounting functions and understand SNMP MIB details. The chapter also provides a command-line reference.
