Gather Windows system details and store in SQL Server 2005 Express with this VBScript

This VBScript gathers system information from Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows Vista machines and stores the data in a SQL Sever 2005 Express Edition database.

The first in Scott Lowe's Infrastructure Monitoring Project, this powerful VBScript gathers system information from Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows Vista machines and stores the data in a SQL Sever 2005 Express Edition database. The script gathers the following:

• System Type: For example, "X86-based PC"
• Description: For example, "AT/AT Compatible"
• Total system RAM
• Number of processors in the system
• System manufacturer
• System model
• OS version description
• Service pack version description
• The Windows boot device. I.e. \Device\HarddiskVolume1
• The Windows build number. I.e. 3790
• The time zone for the system.
• The Windows serial number.
• Service pack version.
• Drive on which the OS in installed.
• The full OS version. I.e. 5.2.3790.
• The directory in which Windows is installed.
