It's impossible to build a topnotch infrastructure without thorough and diligent attention to its processes--and that includes everything from defining the process in terms of a sound business model to identifying its owners, sponsors, and customers to designing it to provide useful metrics. A well-designed process should also be thoroughly documented, streamlined to eliminate non-value-added steps, automated where possible, developed for maximum compliance, and integrated with other complementary processes.
