...some more background such as "what types of applications do you develop", "how large is your organization", etc. These are all important factors to any core tech decision. I suppose this article isn't a case study, but it would be nice if it was IMO. Otherwise, here, let me replace the article with one sentence: "Upgrading your technology is useful to not be stuck with obsolete systems, even though it may not be easy to do so."

Maybe this reaction is partially my response to my own situation, attempting to make this kind of decision for my organization right now, doing C/BA etc, but I think this would have been a lot more useful with more details. The general advice is jusat that, pretty general. What about alternatives? What is the risk of being even more tightly dependent upon Microsoft? Etc.

An alternative for a small budget might also be to use subscription based solutions like our offering ResultsXP for project status reporting or more project planning oriented subscription solutions that can be found on the internet. They are usuallyfast to setup and easy to use and affordable, and don't need any infrastructure from your company.

I've found project web sites to be immensely usefull. I opt not to use WSYWG programs because I find them more time consuming - perhaps newer versions have improved.

Project web sites can be usefull in the planning stage where designers can postscreenshots before the actual pages go into development.
