I found the title quiet misleading.
With "Put XHTML 1.0 Strict and Transitional to work ", I was expecting the author to talk about making use of XHTML pages with web applications. What server-side technologies can make use of XHTML and how?How would XHTML benefit and make our life easier?
I would appreciate if builder.com put a smiliar sort of articles that addresses the above and more issues

I don't mind the title too much; the article shows how to put XHTML at work. Just think the title should append "with Dreamweaver MX" at the end.

Thanks for the link to HTML Tidy; here is another link that appears with most discussions of XHTML: http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/

Stick to XML for server side, why in need of XHTML?

XHTML is a great client-side technology ensuring both forward and backward compatibility. Additionally, as it is an XML, XHTML can be used the same way an XML doc can, so there are a lot of benefites to using it.

After reading these article and replies, I am floored. HTML 4.01 Transitional/strict is almost like XHTML 1.0 Transitional/strict/frames. They are both W3C standards. It is clear from these replies, that most are not clear what these standards say. It seems to me, too, that most must be using Front Page or some other WYSIWYG editor.

Also, why does anyone want to pay $300+ for an editior in the first place. First things first is to learn the code using a simple text editor, then select an editor that does the job to the Standards and not WYSIWYG.

As for me, I will stick with HTML-Kit and not look back. Why Pay $300 for a software that is not any better than the free/almost free software that meets the standards and then some. But first, go to W3C and read the standards. Darn!

They use the ???role??? attribute for various divs and forms. Apparently it doesn???t really do anything (for my purposes), so I removed all instances of the attribute. tax relief
