I've come across the Dublin Core once or twice before, and am
surprised to find (from their site) that there's a global conference
dedicated to it (there must be something to the DC after all).
That, and I have always been a strong advocate of meta tags,
albeit weak SE support due to unscrupulous measures from
equally unscrupulous Web site maintainers.
Anyway, I hope that the author or another member of the
Builder.com community can help to answer the following:
1. The article introduced the concept of Core Qualifiers but did
not go into much detail, nor did it provide any examples of the
tags nor how to use them. Pls advise.
2. In terms of the DC.Description meta tag, is this meant to
replace the normal meta description tag (i.e., "<meta
name="description" content="..." />")?
3. For that matter, how well (or not well) do current search
engines parse DC meta tags?
4. The article mentioned Warwick but did not say much. Is it a
valid alternative to DC and something worth looking into, or
merely placed in the article to show critical authority?
5. Lastly, I have been developing Web sites since 1995 and have
never really seen wide acceptance of the DC. What are our
friends near Columbus, OH doing to advocate acceptance as
such?
Many thanks in advance to those for your response.
Regards,
Dino Baskovic
