PeopleSoft's board of directors has approved a takeover deal with Oracle worth around $10.3 billion, valuing PeopleSoft at $26.50 per share.

What's your reaction to this merger deal?

In my organization our backend to SAP is Oracle db. Hopefully Oracle will continue to play well with SAP now that they have an ERP solution.

Well this is another example of Sr. Executives in a company not taking care of the workers. PeopleSoft has capped the severance package at 2 month, so long term impact is minimal to Oracle. All the talk and email that went to employees was all a bunch of lies to keep them productive so they could get Oracle to elevate the price. None of the Sr. Executives will be hurt by this or shall I say they will not need unemployment insurance. Millions are being spread to a select few while the 1,000 of employess in Pleasanton and Denver will be released and will have to struggle to fight for a job in a tight job market. As Scrooge stated "Ahh Humbug to you all!" Now the fun begins with Oracle, who like a Samurai will take no prisoners! Well this just goes to show you that the justice department can be made to be powerless as they did nothging to protect the market nor the customer as they did not appeal or put up a valid effort to make this hostile situation go away. Perhaps Craig Conway was correct in his efforts of fighting this battle with every breath as he knew Ellison would destroy a fine company. Well there is more and every employee feels betrayed by the Executives that stated to them "we are not for sale"

regards,
Ron

Why ?

What motivated the executives of Oracale to "invest" 10 Billion dollards of other peoples money? Are they paid on sales growth that ignores earnings per share. Did they lack the vision to make a bright future - so the thought the would Buy it with other peoples money. Or is it the Golden termination packages they will get? One notable invester said most companies who make large takeovers expect the target (Frog) to turn into a Princess despite the fact that their back yards are full of toads.
Well...we've seen how Ellisson's been pushing to get PeopleSoft for 18 months...Have to hand it to the man...he's been at it for quite some time now!!!

Let's hope support for PeopleSoft & JD remains the same or even better.... And with this merger...the competition gets better...which will help us get better products....
