It's nice to see. It's funny, y'know: this entire laptop, software and all, costs less than the equivalent software alone would cost if bought from Microsoft. In fact, Microsoft Office's retail price, last I checked, is $1.99 more than the cost of this entire laptop, with OS and (better) office suite included and pre-installed. Now there is a deal! The major downside, of course, is that it uses Linspire as the Linux distribution. Then again, for converting people from Windows to Linux, I suppose it would be difficult to get something more familiar to Windows users than Linspire among the available Linux distros. All in all, this looks like a really good deal for cheapo customers that have never used Linux before.

I knew I could count on Wal-Mart. Love those guys even though they seem to come under fire a lot. I guess I might not want to see a Mega-superstore in my backyard with its Box-like aesthetics and instant traffic problems...Finally, a NEW laptop under $500. Looks to have decent stats for such a low price. All that and linux preinstalled too! Somebody pinch me. Bill Gates will be gnashing his teeth asking himself "Didn't I kill those Lindows...er, Linspire guys with that lawsuit?". Apparently not.Hope the new Balance will show off Linux power and not be comprised of cheap components and make the OS look bad.May take users a while to get used to going so long between malware infections though.
