That was fascinating about Southdale Mall (really!). The link to it's history page didn't work but I found it anyway. Times have really changed (loved the parking lot pic, but didn't see any Studebakers). If you dig into it a bit they have a collection of pictures you can download, one shows the "Kiddie Korral" (I assume parents could drop off the kids while they shopped), but what is really funny is the second Kiddie Korral picture, it's a bunch of wire cages. It looked like you would take your kid to this bright, cheerful looking place and they would take the kid into the back room and lock him in a cage.

Somehow I don't think that's what they did... although I've known some kids where it would be a good idea!
