For better or worse, the searchability of a Web site can be the major determining factor of success or failure.

Does your organization take steps to make its Web site Google-friendly? Has it been successful?
Google's major methodology for page ranking has little to do with the suggestions in this article. Instead, it tends to rank a page based on what links lead to the page. As such, the most important influence on the search-engine prominence of your site will be the number and type of websites that link to it.

As such, social engineering within the context of the Web is a far more useful skill to have in getting high Google page rankings than knowledge of meta tags. It's just something to keep in mind, particularly since competing search engines tend to get a lot of their own page-rankings from Google, which leads the search engine field right now.

I wish this is all it took to get listed in the search engines. If it was this exact of a science, this guy would be rich! In reality, search engines are much much more complex.
