Good review, and I really love the product. The WebLogic Server rocks, and this is product makes WebLogic development much more straightforward.

Not for everyone

Yes, it is good for WebLogic shops but nothing else. I can't see myself using WebLogic Workshop to develop WebSphere apps.

AltoWeb has been doing this for three years and has a much more stable and complete product.

Both products look worth a try, but getting up to speed in order to accomplish anything in 30 days is a challenge. Learning curves for software of this type is traditionally steep and I don't want to waste time learning something I'm not going to use.

Why are more and more software companies hiding how much their products cost? It's hard to evaluate which one seems to be the better value, so I know which one to try...

Workshop is definitely a great product. One of the most interesting feature is its ability to publish both synchronous and asynchronous web services. The Workshop team did an A+ job of hidding the complexity of dealing with JMS, correlation and conversation management. This is one of the most innovative feature of Workshop.
Kudos,

Edwin

Has anyone used Web Objects for things like this - my understanding is that Web Objects can work with many of the top J2EE Application Servers? http://www.apple.com/webobjects
