Hi,
if you don't mention Dia (http://www.lysator.liu.se/~alla/dia/dia.html) in such article then you really haven't grasped all available flowcharting and graphing solutions. And it's free, yes.
It would be nice to have similar article for those who are now using Linux more than Windows. At least Dia is available for Linux, too.

Awesome - thanks for the link... word of warning to linux users though - this product is still in 0.8x version, however the screenshots look good! (I haven't tried it, yet.) Looks promising, especially for free!
Thanks for a brief but very usefull article. As a DBA I'm always trying to improve my personal project management skills. This article provided me with some usefull links and applications that will help me greatly.
Part of project management is having a central repository where all team memebers can access information. eProject.com offers a free personal version that up to five people can use. They have a calendar, file sharing with some permissions controls, messaging, and so forth. I have used it for several years for projects with clients, where we are not all in the same organization. They also have an enterprise product.
For lots of free project management advice and practical tools, visit www.gantthead.com. It's the largest community of IT project managers anywhere, with almost 100,000 members. Registration is free, but paid membership is available, which gives youaccess to complete project plans, PowerPoint presentations, IT processes and more. And there is a discount on membership for Tech Republic members.
Linas Vepstas maintains a fairly complete webpage called "Call Center, Bug Tracking and Project Management Tools for Linux", with a nice overview of (among others) projectmanagement tools on/for Linux

...a frequent contributor to the TR site family. More understandable, imho, than PMI's PMBOK.
