The CC company makes 2% on average off each transaction but the vendor pays that and passes on that cost to ALL the customers including those who pay cash. So people who pay cash subsidize those who pay by credit card.

So CCs are a great deal if you have the financial discipline to use them. It is dangerous for some people though because it's just too darn convenient. It's almost like giving a reformed alcoholic a sip of alcohol.
