In a recent forum we were discussing upgrading to Vista. A sub-forum started about the government and large organizations not having the hardware requirements covered. My question to the masses was why doesn't gov. organizations go the terminal route? The answer was politics and cost. Going as far as saying that a Citrix/Terminal solution costs as much as an upgrade.

The discussion I am hoping to start is do you feel that the above statement is true? With the new heavy requirments for Vista, and the true use of users (Office, IE) is that really the case. I have looked in the SMB market and my belief is startup costs may be similair but long term upgrading desktops every 3-4 years is much more costly.

Please help in clearing this up. It will be info with the release of Vista and the future of our networks.
