        <description><![CDATA[You should make the point that with this service turned off, many remote installation programs cannot work. Sophos Corporate AV client is one. I've had other situations in the past where I had to turn the service on to be able to install an application remotely.Hank Arnold]]></description>

        <description><![CDATA[The same can be done in XP.  In fact if your are smart enough you can unbind TCP/IP from File and Printer sharing and add the old Netbeui protocol and bind it only to F&amp;P sharing - every host on your local network will have to have Netbeui installed in order to &quot;see&quot; the shares.The Netbeui protocol is still on the Windows XP install disk in the \VALUEADD\MSFT\NET\NETBEUI folder.  Netbeui will not route over the Internet so it can - by default - not be seen past your router modem.]]></description>
