Same for me.
I do alot of beta and alfa test.
I do also rekomend Vista if they have the computer for it else its XP.
Linux has to long way for commen people can use and its not any better.
if you want trouble you shall get Linux.
Try webcam, printer etc and you are up to many bad experience.
If you play game you shall forget Linux.. I know ther is emulator that can runt windows program, but Windows runt this things much better.
