Do you see your users doing a lot of things the hard way in Outlook? What kind of questions come up most often and what tips do you routinely share with them?

When you're entering an appointment and you know it's for next Tuesday, just type 'next tuesday' into the date field and outlook will look up the correct date for you. Very handy when you're in a hurry.

Please think of time saving plugins for Outlook:

- Lookout (lightspeed keyword seach)
- ClearContext (prioritizing emails)
- Chilibase (conversations)

I'm a relative newbie to Outlook and have to track 5 email addresses. I am interested in setting up each email address so that it has:

1. Its own Inbox, Sent, etc. folder, and the emails go into the correct folders,

2. A setup where it automatically assigns the correct "From" based on which Inbox I send/reply from,

3. Does NOT put a copy of everything I send into my Unread folder.

I tried the Rules function to do these things, but I end up with multiple copies of everything. Also, I'd love to know about a way to stop the SpellCheck and send the email in *one* keystroke (like Thunderbird does).
Keeping the relative times and dates associated with emails when moved to a (separate from Outlook) storage folder is a major problem for me, and others I've talked with. I have yet to find a way to do this without entering the info manually; this becomes very tedious with an incoming/outgoing log of 200 per day. Help would be appreciated!

Two Offices
vicki_711 2nd Mar 2007
I travel between two offices and find people trying to set up meetings for me in the "wrong" office. If I set my calendar up as "busy" then those in my second office think I am unavailable for in-person meetings. Has anyone else successfully created a calendar view that will tell people - I'm in NY or I'm in LA - when they are checking the calendar for availability?

Create an all day event for the office you will be in. Make sure the all day event box is checked and the "show as" is marked as free. You can span the all day event over several days to reflect your location for multiple days. You can then still schedule meetings marked as busy.

Drag an email about a meeting and drop on the calendar - the text of the email becomes the comments of the calendar entry. Set the dates & alarms and you're ready to go
