Thanks for the how-to. It was easy to follow and worked perfectly. I meant to enable bitlocker immediately, but was discouraged when Windows seemed to insist my BIOS wasn't up to code. Probably would have let it go, but for finding this. Thanks again!
I don't think you mean a BIOS issue, but lack of a TPM.

I just assumed TPM was a BIOS component. Oops. Does not having one affect functionality?

Also, if you have the inclination to, do you have anything to say about this: http://tinyurl.com/33gs42

I bought an SD card online; hoping it will work for ReadyBoost, but given your blog post on the number of incompatible flash cards, I'm preparing myself for disappointment. If the workaround works, though, even if not quite as well as an up to snuff card, I'd be inclined to use it.

Thanks.
But what about to encrypt my d: partition where all my data is?. I using a C: partition for OS and apps, and a D: partition for all my documents data. Bitlocker only works with one partition , your active one, so if I merge both partitions in one and I must reinstall the OS , is a kiss goodbye my data forever...
I want to use biometric USB keys in addition to TPM...but the ones I bought seem incompatible with Vista and kind of crappy even with XP. Any good pointers for brands/models of biometric USB keys that will work with BitLocker?
is this the same process applicable for Windows 2008?
why am i asking this bcoz "bitlocker drive preparation tool" is not present here in 2008!what to do?
