One of my pet peeves is when the people who are supposed to be assisting me just ignore me. For instance, I'm the first person in line and expect to be attended to. Meanwhile, the customer service rep is doing something else. I stand there, ignored, getting more irritated by the second. If that customer service rep would just look me in the eye and say "I'm sorry, give me one minute please to finish this transaction" I would be content to stand there and wait. But when I am ignored I just get more and more pissed off.
Perfect example - the other day I was in Staples (my first mistake) looking for a magnetic white board. I was flipping through their selection of white boards and bulletin boards, obviously not finding what I was looking for, looking around for someone to help me. A Staples employee was wandering around, giggling into her cell phone on a personal call. She drifted past me a couple of times, not hearing me (or choosing not to do so) as I repeated "Excuse me" several times. I finally stood in her path and ducked my head to make eye contact and stated rather loudly "I need help." She finished her phone call and "helped me" by telling me that ALL the white boards are magnetic, which is not true. I bought the magnetic white board from Amazon.com.
