Dr_Zinj 6th Mar 2007
I'd be more impressed if someone had build a working computer and used cardboard for all the casings for the monitor, cpu, keyboard, and mouse.

Cardboard
Lost Cause? 6th Mar 2007
Looks like someone has too much free time on their hands!
but not the monitor, yet.
He built it in a Xerox copier paper box, so it was a little big, but cooling was good!
ajole,

If the student has pictures of his creation and would like me to post them on TechRepublic, please have him contact me.

Thanks,
I can send them if you want, it would be nice to see them on TechRepublic.
I am 15, btw.

made one out of wood
tim@... Updated - 8th Mar 2007
We made a working PC out of wood with a glass top so you can see inside. Its a learning resource in our classroom.
If you send me a few photos of the wooden PC and a brief description, I'll post them to a new gallery.

Nicely done

That must have taken some time to put together, the brown screens remind me of the old monocrome monitors, amber and black.

Bypass Spam Filters
digitalbudda Updated - 6th Mar 2007
I see that they have bypassed the Spam Filters using the Imaged-based variety noted in the 'next to last' photo. This also explains the XXX pron "Porn" delivery (No Doubt) arriving in a plain brown wrapper!

Onideus_Mad_Hatter 13th Apr 2007
Sorry kiddo, but I'm as oldbie as it gets around here, tech wise (I have Usenet posts archived in Google that date back to the early 90s) and pr0n has been around for a LOOOOONG time.

I have a KVM switch that looks exactly like the "USB Hub" shown in the picture. What convinces me that it's a KVM is the monitor connector and the general thickness of the cables going into the back of the device.

Considering some of the questions I have to answer or problems I have to resolve due to user interaction, this could be a viable solution, imho.
honestly your like a set of children in that office ha ha
Can't imagine what your superiors must think of you! You probably work 65 hour weeks to make up for this. Incredible!!!

Funny
TCP_DUMP 21st Mar 2007
Too funny
Just a couple of random thoughts...

1. If they're trying to be thorough, why no cardboard surge strip?

2. I'm not a supervisor or anything like that, but I have to hope this was done on the employees' own time. I can't imagine how long it took, but it was certainly a few hours, and if done on work time it's clear they don't have enough work to do.

Speaking of which I'll be getting back to work now... happy
Please, help me! I do need those hardwares, but I-m lookin' for iPod, and palmtop too, maybe with GPRS, only if it's possible.
Thanks for your help!
a beginner...
P.S.> by the way, do theese computers ever crash? (you know, I'm talking about blue screen messages and "... send/don't send crash report" happy messages, and software bugs).
