Microsoft is entering the IP telephony market with the public beta release of Office Communicator 2007 and Office Communications Server 2007, which will let users make phone calls from other Office applications. The launch pits Microsoft against competitors selling IP telephony and unified communications software, but it also marks a key step in the evolution of corporate communications, where telephony is increasingly turning into another software feature rather than being a standalone product.

As I remember to deploy MOC 2007 you should also upgrade SQL server to 2005 and Exchange server to 2007. So deployement plan to MOC should be integrated to migration of SQL server and Exchange server.
Currently we use MOC 2005 in our company. It's really comfortable and also we use VoIP. When I call using VoIP very often voice breaks happen but using MOC 2005 really makes quality phone call also if you have web cam same time you can see the person and talk which makes more live your conversation
