Being a hard core tech for 30 + years I have gone beyond this stage in my attempt to repair a WD400BB drive. The bottom line:the drive failed to spin. Troubleshooting further reveled the motor driver chip was bad. I bought a used drive with the same date and model and swapped the chip. Drive spins up and I recovered my data!
