Static IPs might stop a casual bandwidth thief, but it's moot if you just run WEP at a minimum (worth 1 minute of security now with the new research that just came out). Anyone who knows how to bypass WEP will have zero problem getting by static IP, MAC filtering, hidden SSIDs. That?s the point I?ve been trying to make over and over again in the blog. If you implement some real security like WPA, then you don?t worry about any of this stuff.
