The author makes very good points about what to look for in a server chassis.

However, I am wondering how OS compatibility is connected in choosing a server chassis itself.

The point about drivers for components such as motherboard, add on cards etc. is a separate issue and IMO not relevant to choice of chassis.

So far (in my experience), a typical server grade chassis has accommodated all the components (motherboard, CPU, memory, RAID card etc.) that are compatible with my OS platform.
