In the vista version of windows explorer if you have the left window tree open then you will see "favorite links" above the folders section. Just drag a folder to there and it will always be there as a folder to access with one click. You can obviously resize the size of the "folders" and "favorite links" section to reflect the size of your favorites

You may want to update to change "parenthesis" to "quotes" or "quotation marks".

Thanks
Very good info about mklink, but just right click your "working" folder and choose "Send To > Desktop". Easier than opening a command prompt and typing in a command.
I can see using junction points and symbolic links for batch files or in programming, but for daily tasks - just use a shortcut.

i'm running server 2008 and this mklink tool is completely PERFECT.
i'm lacking space on the disk where my web server is running (C:\) and therefore i could not add big files ti my website. i just created a link to another partition of the disk and i was done ;-D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you so much for this article !!
I find this article interesting and it looks like just what I need. I am trying to link from a nested folder on C: to a folder on F: However, everytime I try to do the following:

MkLink /D C:\Users\Owner\Documents\WORDsearch\MyPDFResources F:\MyPDFResources

I get a message stating "You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation" What gives?

Google Link Shell Extension for a tool that adds mklink functionality to file/folder context menu. Much easier than command prompt approach.
How do you create a symbolic link to a network share on a remote computer if you are not connected to a domain? Is there a way to pass credentials? I can't figure how to do this.

Thanks,
I am also waiting answer of this question. this feature is good, but how to implement it on a remote computer...please suggest on it...window visa is compatible with other customized mlm software also.
Day of the BC Zombie march. grin
I use junction points in VS2008, many windows show the entire file path, c:\csp is shorter "C:\users\Mark\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects". With this long path name I was continually resizing windows while debugging.

if not longer.

I bet the boys at MS are proud as peaches to finally be catching up. grin
