Maintain your own data at home. Use a LiveCD to connect to that data as needed. You can even mount remote partitions via SSH using the SSHFS software. There's no need to pay someone else to maintain your data for you at a cost of $1/mo./2GB when you can do it yourself using the computer you already own. You also get to choose your own window manager, your own applications, and even your own OS -- it can be PC-BSD, for instance, rather than a derivative of Ubuntu GNU/Linux.

By managing your own data, you maintain the security of your data, and don't have to worry about anyone else having access to it (unless you let them have access). That alone should make it worthwhile to do it yourself.

Of course, that requires a little more know-how to set up. I guess you could just use BabelDisc if you like paying for your ignorance.
