Testing 1, 2, 3 -- Beta 3 of Windows "Longhorn" Server goes public

Microsoft is releasing the first public test version, Beta 3, of its Windows "Longhorn" Server. However, the official launch date is still in the air.



Take your best guess on the actual release date (be sure to include the month, day, and year), and I'll send the winner a TechRepublic mug with either a coffe, tea, or hot chocolate single.

The RC1 ought to be out by July/August with RC2 out September.

I suspect that the final release will be announced and delayed (gasp!!) and will finally be out 8th August 2008. PM

12/08/08 The second Monday in Dec. of 2008. By then, Mr. Gates will be bouncing off the ceiling for it to be released. They will aim for the first Monday, but not quite make it.

The release will be December 16, 2008. A lot of companies like to release new products near the beginning of the fiscal year. I guess so they can better measure the sales numbers throughout the rest of the year...? That's my guess.

Microsoft announces the new, revised anticipated date for the release of Longhorn on February 1, 2008.

Like I have always said, windows is never on time. I'll take December of 2007. I might be wrong. I'm more than likely short in my time span.

I myself do not use Servers, but I am going to guess around Aug. 20, 2008 is when the release will be.
