Maybe to some - but there's also the "Peter Principle" which managers ought to read BEFORE they become managers.

Unfortunately I have yet to see (in this company) a manager that has both (or even excels in ONE) of those two traits! Most of the time we wind up with these zeros that have little true knowledge of how the product works, what it takes to develop it and how to lead effectively. The guy we have now plays "at" the politics of things but is completely CLUELESS how things actually work here.

I've seen 'em come and go ... and expect I'll see several more before I retire.
