... it was still fairly miserable, if I recall. Unfortunately, Oracle has really poor documentation, and it is a real trick to figure out what you actually need to install to get your app to connect to a server, vs. all of the potential options. It is kind of like going to Sun's Java page, and trying to figure out what you actually need to download and install to try programming in Java... too many packages, not enough explanation.
