I have been a big user of styles. Everything else is in-text coding and really junks things up.
The themes is just another "be reasonable do it my way" POS in the software (no innovation).
Document Properties
I kind of like most of this stuff. Share Point can use it, VBA can extract it -- It helps me assemble data.
(Unfortunately nobody know how to use it)
Most things in Word are just add-on to broaden appeal.
Most users just bang away with little for or function so sharing becomes difficult anyway (e.g., line space with carriage returns - ARRGH!).
Everybody get a grip.
It is just a fancy typewriter.
Try anything else and your most likely using the wrong software.

Great post. I like office 2007 most because it has the function to save as PDF directly.
In case you don't have office 2007, you can still gain PDF via googledocs.
Here is a step-by-step tutorial:

Hope it helps!

one click on an icon and select the file name and location.
As with most software I tend to ignore the manuals and tackle the software head on. You can learn a lot from trial and error, but once you get comfortable with a program the learning tends to stop.
Lurking in the back of the mind is the thought that there may be more to the program than what we have figured out, but other than cracking the book, or searching the help files how are we to find them?
How about some free training?
Learnkey has posted snippets of thier training programs on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/LearnKeyVideo.

Anyone upgrading from 2000 or 2003 should have their heads examined. Being a touch-typist, the ribbon is a return to silly things like the little cartoons they originally built-in. Just put back the menu that I could use from the keyboard. Also put back the address control in the menu. Stop ripping out functionality!!
