SBS 2003 R2
ratfink 19th Jun 2007
I hope longhorn runs better than WinSBS2003 -- This program is a typical MS product -- nothing works as advertised. Even the MS book is not correct and is misleading.

If you have a choice go with NOVELL NETWARE -- great program and just keeps on running and easy to install and setup.

Novell Netware

I hope Novell Netware runs better than their previous versions -- Novell programs are typical Linux/Unix products - nothing works.

But if you would just learn Novell correctly then you might be able to use it properly. Saying nothing works is a cop-out. Bring your skill level up above noob and you might actually see some results!
Because I was a hardcore Novell supporter and would talk anybody out of bothering with Windows Server and AD. Now, reality has sunk in and I've abandoned Novell in favor of MS products. My loyalty is not to any one manufacturer or OS product...it's to my family and whatever I need to do or whatever bandwagon I need to jump on to keep a roof over our heads and put food on the table. Technologies come and go, but my responsibilities and family obligations will still be there.

Bravo Jack, I too look at the world in the same way, tech industry being no different.. We mules pulling carts need to hook up to whichever cart is full at the moment in order to put food on the table and keep our families warm, safe and dry.

My family is where I swear my allegiance, not whichever Silicon Valley billionaire happens to be more popular.

Peace
Good Job!
It was nice to be familarized with the screens.

Mathew.
Does any know if Longhorn will be able to remote boot from an external drive? We are trying to see if it can boot over a network on an SCSI. I know that Windows Server 2003 can't and that is one big limitation.

IF you have a SAN and HBA's, the firmware can be set to boot from a remote disk in a SAN. I have not tested with iSCSI
Great, now just double your CPU and memory and you can upgrade.
Great, now just stop being ignorant and actually learn something about Windows Server 2008 and you can say something right about it.
One with just the core, and one a full install. It is nice, but slow as crap when you put it on the same hardware as 2003. Why am I being ignorant by saying you need a lot of hardware. MS says to run the full thing you need 1 GB RAM just for the OS to run smoothly for a core install.

It does work well with Vista and had a few features I like. But i had to double the hardware I needed a faster CPU and more memory than I needed for 2003 to test it.

I didn't say it sucked or that everyone i stupid who likes it. That would be ignorant. I just stated a truth by saying it required double the hardware. Yes the hardware is cheap and requirements can easily be met on new machines, but it is still double.

So it seems you are ignorant and can't read or accept a point that doesn't say that MS is god and should be worshiped.

Fan boy
if only i could get that far! received the beta dvd with a ms partner pack, with zero instructional content. Dvd does nothing when inserted during boot. The installation proceedure may well be blaringly obvious, but it would save alot of wasted time trawling the net if they were bothered to provide a little instruction as to the proceedure for installation!
Here you can find all info about Windows Server 2008
