The article was extremely good, but it would be better if it was downloadable as a pdf file.

Great article, but I also am interested in knowing if there is an easy way to import/export the custom toolbar.
Thank you SO much - a colleague and I needed to carry out this exact function and couldn't for the life of us figure out where to start. Thank you for an excellent, well written article that provided our solution in seconds!
I love this article. Every time I start a new job at a new company I win heaps of kudos by creating these buttons for people. Thanks again TR!
Thanks, just what I needed.
I was getting a hyperlink warning message in Outlook upon clicking on my link. I disabled it with this registry 'enhancement'.

This was brilliant! The most difficult part for me was locating the saved template, we are on a server, so I had to actually use the "long method" of opening a template to see where the template was saved. Thanks a million.
how can i do this with a script so i can 'distibute' this button on our office network to all employees?
this is a great tutorial! anybody know how can i make this button with a script so i can 'distibute' this button on our office network to all employees?
Has anyone else had trouble with the templates not staying on the toolbar? Mine keep disappearing.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You've just made my work easier/faster.
how can i use this same toolbar in replying to nan email?
Just what I needed this morning to see about helping a user to make better use of Outlook.
Terrific. Explanation is very well done!
So clear that is hard to believe that some would still have problems to do.
Congratulations!

GREAT article.
However, I have a default signature for new emails that I don't want to be added to these messages. Is there any way to supress that? Also, there is a securty warning. Can I avoid that, too?
Thanks,
Terry

This process (creating the drop down menu on the toolbar) was done by several users. The templates are saved on a common drive with each user linking their outlook drop down to the respective email template. People are complaining now because when they open the template any changes made by the previous user are being saved. They assure me they're only sending the emails and not saving anything. Has anyone else had this problem?
I know it's been 4 months since you wrote. Hope you've already solved your problem.
I'd try to flag these template files (or the whole templates folder) as read-only for most users.

Great How-To. I have created and tested a Template. All went great on this single test, however I cannot find a copy of the "Sent" message. Where is it stored in Outlook 2003?
I think you have app for that: ReplyWith Template for Microsoft Outlook http://replywith.4team.biz
Can anything similar be done with the Outlook 2010 Ribbon?
Is there any way this can be applied to outlook 2010? I've added new tab and commands but you can't seem to modify the commands as you could with the old buttons.
To do this in Outlook 2010 is a little more complicated. Yet, it 'can be done'.
You'll need to record a macro first. I cheated and used the code from here: http://help.wugnet.com/office/Button-Open-Template-Outlook-2007-ftopict1083041.html
Thanks Sue as always! Such a legend to the community.
To do this you'll need to have the Developer Tab up and running.
On the ribbon, right click choose Customize the Ribbon.
Under Customize the Ribbon: Tick the Developer box.
Then create and save your macro to open your template file. See above.Once done and saved.
On the ribbon, right click choose Customize the Ribbon.
I created a New Group under the main home tab.
Then From "Choose commands from:" Select Macro and 'move' it to your newly created group. You can rename your macro, but it doesn't seem you can change the icon symbol to your own if you have one, which is shame. That would be useful.
If you get prompted about macro security, change your Macro Trust settings:
File>options>Trust Center>Trust Center Settings>Macro Settings:
I have mine set: Notifications for all macros. You could install Redemption. - http://www.dimastr.com/redemption/ . I've seen others use this. You may or may not be able to do this in a corporate environment.
So yes, you can do it, it just seems there are more steps involved.
Once you've done all your macros, you can remove the developer tab.

This write-up is great and SUPER helpful but every time I try to use a template from the dropdown, I get multiple security warnings: "Microsoft Office has identified a potential security concern. This location may be unsafe (lists the default folder my templates are stored in). Hyperlinks can be harmful..." If I click continue, it gives a warning that attachments can be unsafe and gives options of Open/Save/Cancel. I'm using Outlook 2007 on Vista. Any ideas??
I'm getting the same warning as cseifert. Any suggestions? Would like to implement this for people using Outlook 2010 and 2007.
I'm using this simple plug in for Outlook that is called ReplyButler that can help you spend less time on answering e-mails.
