In Word 2007, MS has decided that all paragraphs should have an additional 10 pts of space following them. For academic writers, this is a big no-no. Also, the bibliography sections you can have Word automatically insert are not formatted to the MLA standards (or APA standards) that you select from the menu BEFORE you insert your bib. Catches unwary or unknowing students and sets them up for another pass through editing.

PS - the "annoyances" article title, I think, comes from one of Woody Leonhard's book titles...one of the first Word ref books I ever purchased.
