You might find querying Google somewhere closer than India to be a little faster. wink

Change "www.google.co.in" in:

http:// www.google.co.in /search?hl=en&q=intitle%3A%22index.of%22
+%28mp3%29+%s+-html+-htm+-php+-jsp&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

to "www.google.com" as in:

http:// www.google.com /search?hl=en&q=intitle%3A%22index.of%22
+%28mp3%29+%s+-html+-htm+-php+-jsp&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

yeah - it is very old and i have extensively used it like 2 years ago! I cant believe these things are hitting the headlines now!!! We are geeks, and we are supposed to know all these things as soon as they surface. Anyway, you can goto johnny.ihackstuff.com to get more out of it including seeing VPN passwords, error messages that give way too much info etc.
I had not heard of the firefox bookmark approach before, pretty cool.

Another easy way, without remembering the code behind the search is to goto:
www.g2p.org

This site incorporates all the specific google hacks, making it very easy to search for the files you need without remembering all the code behind it. This is still good information to know though. This just adds speed to the task

My pleasure happy
It actually doesn't work very well at all.

I tried this a couple weeks ago and 99% of the hits were actually links to pages offering songs for sale.

I guess the 'spammers' have found out how to defeat this already.

It works ....

... I tried it for several pdfs and it worked fine. You may not get the intended links on one click but it reduces the time to mine data immensely.

Well the gent looking for FREE downloads should have gone to Bit Torrent if that was his prime qualifier. Or is there a meta search tag for that also? Otherwise do what I do, buy the music.

Well... you can mention a search on torrent sites. Use the "site:torrentSiteName" and the keyword "OR" to add search on multiple sites eg: "site:torrentspy.com OR site:isohunt.com songTitle"
Thanks for the link to the general Google guide, and good example.
